Welcome to Movement for Makers!

Welcome to Movement for Makers!

This is a project that I’ve had in the back of my mind for quite a while.

My name is Chuck Kechter, and I’m the head coach here at MfM. In my day-to-day job, I’m a personal trainer (a job I’ve done – at least part time – for over three decades), a combat sports coach, and a yoga instructor.

For a long time my clients were mostly young, athletic men and women who were on the road to fight in combat sports (boxing, kickboxing, Judo, submission grappling, MMA). Almost a decade ago, I changed paths. While I still work with combat athletes, my main clients are now usually older, less physically fit; looking to lose weight (body fat), gain strength, and mobility. I work especially with folks that are post trauma, post surgery, post-rehab. They’ve had a hip replacement, knee replacement, or rebuilt shoulders, spinal surgeries, and the like. I’ve worked with clients that are blind, have MS, cerebral palsy, type I and II diabetes, or recovering from a stroke.

About four years ago, I started working with a group of clients that all shared a crafting background: stampers, sewists, quilters, scrapbookers, painters, etc. This loose group all shared similar characteristics: postural issues, restricted mobility, poor general physical strength, body composition issues. etc. Over the years, I’ve helped quite a number of them.

This site is an amplification of that process. With MfM I can reach a much broader clientele, and hopefully help them to achieve their physical goals.

The main tool we’ll use will be your own body. I’ve been training yoga since 1983, and teaching yoga for the better part of a decade, and think, with a little modification, that it is an excellent tool to meet all kinds of fitness goals.

So, again, thank you for being here!

Hopefully I (and my upcoming team) can help you with your physical aspirations, and have some fun along the way!

Namaste!
